Tax & statutory setup

Set your employer registration numbers and decide how income tax and statutory contributions are calculated in Payroll → Configure, along with the read-only reference tables Eban Register applies.

Configure has four tabs: Org Settings, Pay Groups, Pay Elements, and Tax & Statutory Reference. This page covers the tax and statutory parts; pay groups and pay elements live under Salaries, contracts & pay elements.

These settings are found under Org Settings and determine how tax and statutory amounts are calculated across the organization.

Your registration numbers, used on payroll filings and statutory reports:

  • Tax ID number (TIN)
  • Social security number (employer)
  • Pension employer number

Two settings determine whether Eban Register calculates income tax and statutory contributions or leaves them to an external payroll provider.

  • Income tax handled outside Eban Register: When set to On (External), income tax is calculated by the external provider. When set to Off, Eban Register calculates it, such as PAYE.
  • Statutory contributions handled outside Eban Register: When set to On (External), Eban Register does not calculate statutory contributions, and scheme enrollment is disabled. When set to Off, Eban Register calculates contributions based on the scheme enrollment configured below.

Leave both off, which is the default, for Eban Register to handle PAYE and statutory contributions.

Choose which statutory schemes Eban Register calculates contributions for. Each scheme displays its contribution type, employee and employer rates, any tax-free limit defined by Eban Register, and organization-level configuration values. A Mandatory badge identifies schemes that cannot be disabled, while an Enrolled or Not enrolled switch indicates enrollment status.

  • Mandatory schemes are always enrolled and cannot be switched off.
  • For configurable schemes, set contribution rates and member details for each employee on the contract’s Statutory tab. See Salaries, contracts & pay elements.

Organization-wide calculation limits that feed how bonus and overtime pay are worked out and taxed for everyone:

  • Bonus: the maximum tax-free bonus, as a percentage or an absolute amount.
  • Overtime: the overtime limit, the basic limit (%), and the tax lower and upper limits (%) used when calculating overtime pay.

This read-only tab shows the rules Eban Register applies in the period currently in effect. Eban Register maintains them, and they are not editable in the admin dashboard.

  • Income tax: the PAYE or withholding-tax table for your country. Each bracket shows its Annual From → Annual To range with monthly equivalents and its Rate, or a single Flat rate if your country uses one. Each table shows its Effective from date.
  • Statutory contributions: every scheme’s employee and employer rates, what it is Calculated on (for example Basic salary, Gross pay, or a pensionable base), whether it reduces taxable income, whether it is Optional, and its Effective from date.
  • Tax reliefs: each relief’s rate and/or amount and max amount, whether it is Applied automatically or Applied on request, and its Effective from date. Reliefs are applied on the employee’s contract, on the Tax Reliefs tab.

Each employee’s contract has two tabs for configuring statutory contributions and income tax reliefs:

  • Statutory: View each scheme’s enrollment status, contribution rates, and any Member ID. Select the gear icon and choose Configure statutory to set the Member ID, override employee or employer contribution rates, and update employee-level configuration values. Rates are inherited from the organization-level settings unless overridden for that employee.
  • Tax Reliefs: View and manage the reliefs applicable to the employee’s income tax. Depending on the relief, it may be applied automatically or require a request. Use this tab to set or update the employee’s reliefs.
