Configure overtime

Set the organization-wide overtime rules and decide who signs off each employee’s requests under Overtime → Configuration. Configure it before people start requesting overtime: until settings exist, no request can be approved in self-service and the requests area shows a warning banner.

Select Edit to change the settings, then save.

Level Flow
One step Request → Approve
Two steps Request → Recommend → Approve

The approval matrix reflects your choice: the recommender option only appears when two steps are selected. This mirrors how leave approvals work.

Two switches decide when work automatically counts as overtime:

  • Consider Holiday as Overtime: work done on holidays counts.
  • Consider Non Working Days as Overtime: all work done on non-working days counts.

The panel shows your current working and non-working days, taken from Settings → Organization Settings. Use Change working days there to adjust them.

Assigns a recommender (two-step level only) and an approver to every employee, which decides who reviews and approves that person’s overtime requests.

Each row shows the employee, their department, the recommender and approver, and a status showing whether anything still needs to be set. Every assigned value also shows where it came from, such as set directly or derived from the department HOD or supervisor. Where a value is missing, the row shows action required, which means the employee has no department, or their department has no HOD or supervisor. Set it directly from the row’s actions when that happens.

  • Use a row’s actions to set that employee’s recommender and approver.
  • Or select several rows and use Set Recommender or Set Approver in the toolbar to assign one person for all of them at once.
